The Black Awards

The inaugural Black Awards took place at the end of October in the Ballroom of the stunning @8Northumberland, which is a stone’s throw from Trafalgar Square in the heart of London. The aim of the Black Awards is to bring people together, from all races and walks of life, to celebrate and acknowledge the success of young black people from across the country. Check out this interview with the founder and chair of the awards, Jasmine Ibikunle, which explains her inspiration and motivation for creating the event: https://yadasays.wordpress.com/2018/09/06/the-black-awards-is-all-about-celebrating-black-excellence/

On the night, over 200 guests attended this wonderful red carpet event, and the entertainment was second to none. Host @Robbrucek kept the proceedings going, as stunning performances from @OB.sax @Dylema_ and @Rachelkerrmusic demanded standing ovations. The fabulous catering was provided by @rhubarb_food and plates were certainly clean everywhere in the room!

The 13 awards presented on the night covered a huge variety of industries and creative fields such as content creation, music, theatre, academic, business. It was great to be part of the recognition of such amazing talent and excellence.

FoxWylie were delighted to be involved in this hugely prestigious awards show. We supported the fantastic team organising the event by supplying the step and repeat wall which was used in the drinks reception as a photo and interview backdrop. We also created the magnificent backdrop to the stage, using the prominent Black Awards graphic, and provided audio visual and lighting equipment and technical support. We worked with the team in the lead up to the event, doing site visits, designs and working to meet all health and safety requirements. We then supplied all equipment, ensuring we met the needs of the awards as well as the performers.

The only issue we now have, is how we’ll top it next year!
