About This Project

The FoxWylie team were delighted to once again work collaboratively with Motiv8 International supporting the delivery of the Kia Academy Masterclass 2018 immersive training event.

The purpose of the event

This event was designed to educate and inform the Kia sales teams about the all new Kia CEED, New Sportage, and the New Optima. Over the course of 6 days, almost 700 delegates came through the doors.

Creative partners

The masterclass took place at the Swynnerton MOD Training Camp in Staffordshire; a live training site used by various groups throughout the year for their training and exercises. As such, the entire Motiv8 team were dressed head to toe in army gear (including berets and boots!) and known by delegates – or recruits – as lieutenants.

Highlights

Once the recruits had enrolled, collected their arm bands, dog tags and aide-memorie, the lieutenants took them through the grounds to the activities of the day. This started with the Sargent Major updating the group on the stats for the year, before all recruits made a swift exit as the enemy fire closed in!!

Engaging activities enforces learning

The teams then had the opportunity to drive each of the new vehicles in the range and see first-hand some of the exciting new features. The recruits also had to break out of a coded escape room, throw a grenade at a target and master some off road driving before being escorted by the lieutenants to the mess hall for lunch! It was quite a day! offering really immersive training.

Planning the event

The team at FoxWylie provided expertise across all areas of the event from the initial site meetings where we determined the best areas of the 500 acre site to use, mapping the driving routes and suggesting appropriate signage to ensure that no one got lost – no mean feat on such a huge site.

When the Motiv8 team suggested we had an explosive start full of energy we devised a plan which included Pyrotechnics, fire and smoke to simulate a battle.

Being a live army training base, the health and safety concerns surrounding explosives was, understandably, very high. Once we had demonstrated our health and safety knowledge and experience, and provided all the relevant paperwork, we were granted permission to make some pretty big bangs.

Artistic license

FoxWylie were instructed to create all the branding and artwork for this event which included creating the overall look and feel of the full event, and the event logo.

The signage included main road directions, to direct the delegates to the entrance. The registration desk, flags and banners across the whole site. All based around the theme and in-line with the branding document produced by FoxWylie.

Technical support

FoxWylie supported the technical production to create a really immersive training experience in various areas, such as the escape rooms where a camera, microphone and speaker were installed into each room. These fed back to the control room where the controller was able to see how each team was getting on and provide verbal responses and clues where necessary.

The British summer weather is always tricky to work around so with this in mind we installed marquees and army tent coverings, together with props and decorations. We also produced the colour coded arm bands, dog tag name badges, and aide-memorie which was the delegate guide for the day.

Managing multiple events

This was a busy period for FoxWylie, as we had several other events taking place at the same time.

As we are highly focused, well resourced, and apply project management principles to all our events, we were more than capable of delivering this immersive training event to a high standard.

We were delighted to record the highest feedback rating to date for this event and can’t wait for the next project with the Motiv8 team.

Feedback from our client

What do you think could have gone better?

Nothing, it was perfect and a very successful event… wouldn’t change anything – Steve Lang – Director of Motiv8 International Ltd – Training and Events
